Heritage House

23.03.2021

Alex provided online sessions with the learners at Heritage House School. The learners loved participating in Alex's dance sessions; and enjoyed listening to the music and learning new dance routines.

Every session, Alex adapted and differentiated the movements and routines, to support the range of learner's abilities and sensory needs. It was evident that Alex thoughtfully planned each session to ensure every learner was able to participate and have fun. Each week the learners looked forward to Alex's sessions.

Alex and Medley Dance are amazing! we would highly recommend Alex and Medley Dance to any individual who loves dance and movement, and to other schools and individuals with SEN/D.

We look forward to participating in Alex's dance sessions again in the future.

We have had Alex come and deliver lots of different sessions for us now working with young people from different SEN schools. The young people and staff always really enjoy the sessions! Alex is lovely, reliable and adapts the moves for the abilities of the young people so everyone can get involved!

Talkback

11.08.2020

During lockdown Talkback had to adapt from running inclusive multi sports sessions for people with a learning disability and autism to running fitness and dance sessions online for our members. This was a new approach for our coaches, and we needed some help!

I contacted Alex at Medley Dance because like us, she is passionate about offering activity that is fun, inclusive, and adapted for everyone. Alex has been fantastic. She has provided expert support and advice, enabling each of our coaches to build their confidence and skills in delivering dance. She has introduced some new ways of working that help make our sessions accessible and fun for all.

At Talkback we have all discovered just how wonderful dance is. Not only does it get everyone moving, it inspires confidence and helps everyone to feel good about themselves - dance is here to stay in our programme! As we begin to deliver sessions in our buildings again, we look forward to developing new inclusive dance opportunities with Medley for all our members.

Alex came down to dance with our lovely students at Chance to Dance Stars CIC today. They were taking part in a 4 hour dance day and Alex ran a dance and movement session as well as a singing and drama session. The theme was Aladdin and loved by all students. Alex's session were sensory and adapted to the range of ages and physically abilities. Alex used lots of props which we love and widened their movement vocabulary. We look forward to dancing with Alex again at our Summer Dance Camp. I would highly recommend Alex and Medley Dance to any other SEN Group or School.

I just wanted to say one more huge 'thank you' for teaching us to dance. The lessons were full of fun and they became a valued part of our timetable. The students looked forward to coming and some even remembered that Monday was their very own Strictly Come Dancing time. We have varied the size of the group at times as some of our keen PMLD dancers took part too but you adjusted to that with ease. You have adapted your dance routines to suit our abilities and you varied the styles to keep us interested. We will definitely miss you!

Alex from Medley Dance just taught a number of workshops at our SEND Schools Annual Disability Dance Festival. We had 142 students with SEND in attendance. Alex was superb! She was friendly, knowledgeable and her sessions were lots of fun. We had a broad range of SEND at the festival and Alex was able to be fully inclusive and engage students at all times. Individual feedback from schools that attended on the day was excellent. We will definitely be working with Medley Dance in the near future!
